The Nevade Public Journal Reported on a Harley-Davidson parade in Milwaukee. The y report that a blow was struck against the Nanny Government by those who wish to ride their motorcycles without wearing a helmet. To our safety concious readers, this would obviously be dangerous. But what many fail to realize is that wearing a helmet can be just as deadly as not wearing one.
You see, helmets restrict a rider's peripheral vision as well as their ability to hear. Many reader's do not look around as much to compensate for this loss of vision, and nothing can help them regain the lost hearing. Further, helmets are more likely to cause certain types of injuries like whiplash or broken necks. And if that weren't bad enough, helmets are ineffective at speeds over 13 miles per hour! Clearly wearing a helmet is not safe either.
What's one to do in such a situation where ther is no safe course of action? Clearly we must stand back and look at the bigger picture: Motorcycles are inherently dangerous. The issue is not whether it is safer to wear a helmet or not. The issue is that people get hurt riding motorcycles. Therfore, we propse a ban on motorcycles. Clearly this is the only way to ensure a safe world for everyone, and the only way to protect the freedom of our fellow induhviduals. |
