The first step in creating legislation against destructive behavior is educating the public to the danger it poses. That's why we are happy to see this article from the University of California's Davis Medical Center appearing on the front page of MSN.com: http://health.msn.com/centers/cancer/articlepage.aspx?cp-documentid=100163951>1=9996
In fact, a search of the UC Davis site shows two pages of articles about the dangers of barbequing: http://www.googlesyndicatedsearch.com/u/UCDHS?q=Barbecue&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&domains=ucdmc.ucdavis.edu&sitesearch=ucdmc.ucdavis.edu&start=10&sa=N It's great to have ads like this one: http://no-smoke.org/pdf/ADN_ad_4final_low_res.pdf.pdf But as with most of these timid (and failed) organizations, it doesn't go far enough. It must be followed through to its logical conclusion! We cringe in horror when we see a mother light up in a car with her children in the back seat, but these failed organizations think nothing of shoving carcinogenic hotdogs and burgers down there throat on a sunny afternoon. They also ignore the damage they are doing to their family, guests, and neighbors when they host a backyard bar-b-killer. Let's keep up the good work and continue informing people of the unacceptable risks they impose on the helpless with their reckless behavior! |
