It turns out that a Dutch study recently revealed that smokers and obese people actually cost less to care for in th elong run than people who live long, healthy lives. This really doesn't concern us all that much at S.T.U.P.I.D. People should be allowed to spend as much money as they want. It is not our concern that by allowing people to lead long healthy lives we will ultimately cost the health system more money, we simply wish to insure everyone's right to freedom by banning the behaviours that prevent them from leading long and healthy lives. |

The Ecology Center just released a report examining the unsafe levels of PBDEs (fire retardants) and phthalates (used make PVC softer). According to the University of California, Davis PBDEs (polybrominated diphenyl ethers) are part of a larger group of toxic compounds known as POPs (persistent organic pollutants). PBDEs may cause liver toxicity, thyroid toxicity, and neurodevelopmental toxicity. Phthalates (DEHP in particular) can lead to reporductive and development problems in newborn males. |

The Nevade Public Journal Reported on a Harley-Davidson parade in Milwaukee. The y report that a blow was struck against the Nanny Government by those who wish to ride their motorcycles without wearing a helmet. To our safety concious readers, this would obviously be dangerous. But what many fail to realize is that wearing a helmet can be just as deadly as not wearing one. |
